O Ancient One (purANi) extolled (nuta) by Siva – enemy (ari) of three fortresses (pura) (purAri), vishNu (hari) and indra – Lord (indra) of celestials (sura) (surEndra)! O Mother (talli)! Why (ElanE) this unconcern (parAmukhamu) (parAmukhamElanE)?
O Daughter of Himalaya Mountain! This is opportune moment to protect me. O Mother! Please come.

O Mother umA! O Swan (hamsa) gaited (gamanA)! Aren’t You delaying (tAmasamA) Your grace? Who (evaru) is refuge (dikku) (dikkeveru) to protect (brOva) me?
Is it burdensome (bhAramA) to show (cUpa) affection (abhimAnamu) now (ipuDu) towards me (mAku) (mAkipuDabhimAnamu) firmly (nikkamuganu)? Please kindly (dayatOnu) listen (vinumA) to me.

Won’t You heed (vinavA) to my appeal (mora), O Destroyer (vidAriNI) of sins (durita)! O Mother bRhannAyakI!

Variations - (Pathanthara)
1amba – ambA.

4 - hamsa gamanA - hamsa gamA : It is known whether ‘gamA’ is a proper usage.

5 - nikkamuganu mAkipuDabhimAnamu cUpa bhAramA vinumA – nikkamuga sumA ipuDabhimAnamu bhAramA calamA vinumA : In the present context, ‘sumA’ is not appropriate. The latter version seems to be doubtful.

6 - vara dAyakI nija dAsuDanu – varadA yOgini nija dAsuDanu : The latter version seems to be doubtful.

7 - SyAma kRshNa sOdari gadA - SyAma kRshNa sOdarI gadA : In the present context, ‘sOdarI’ is not a correct usage in view of word ‘gadA’ attached to this epithet.

8 - vinavA – vinadA.
